About Kindsight:

Kindsight builds technology that helps fundraisers make a difference. For decades, Kindsight has supported the education, healthcare, and nonprofit sectors with fundraising tools and the largest charitable giving database on the market. And as the giving sector evolves, so does Kindsight. As the leader in fundraising intelligence, Kindsight leverages real-time data and AI to help thousands of organizations around the world identify, manage, and engage with donors - at any scale. With purpose-built CRMs that corral all of that donor information and campaign tracking into one place, donor prospect research tools that offer proactive insights and real-time donor intel, and generative AI that creates personalized, meaningful content drafts at scale, Kindsight’s product suite is truly changing the game for donor fundraising.

Position Summary:

We are hiring our first Director of Product Design to build and lead the design function at Kindsight. This is not a traditional design leadership role. This role will define how design operates in an AI-native product organization. You won’t just build a team—you’ll build a new model for product design.

AI tools are dramatically changing how product teams create and iterate on user experiences. Product Managers can now rapidly prototype flows using tools like Claude Design and Figma Make, reducing the need for 1:1 PM-to-designer support. At Kindsight, design will evolve from primarily producing UI artifacts to owning experience quality, system coherence, and human-centered interaction models—especially in AI-powered workflows. You will define this new model.

What You’ll Do:

  • Build and Own the Design System: Create and scale a robust design system (components, tokens, interaction patterns). Ensure consistency across AI-generated and human-designed UI. Partner with engineering to operationalize the system in production. Treat the design system as a product and platform.
  • Elevate Experience Quality Across the Product: Define UX principles for complex, workflow-heavy enterprise products. Ensure clarity, usability, and trust in critical user journeys (e.g., donor management, fundraising workflows). Set and uphold a high bar for interaction design, information architecture, and usability.
  • Lead Design for AI-Powered Experiences: Define how users interact with AI within the product. Copilots, recommendations, automation, and agents. Design for trust, transparency, and control in AI-assisted workflows. Partner closely with Product Management and Engineering on AI-first features.
  • Operate as a Player-Coach: Contribute directly as an IC on high-priority initiatives and new product bets. Lead design for the most complex and high-impact areas. Balance hands-on work with team leadership and strategic direction.
  • Stand Up the Product Design Function: Transition from external agency to an in-house design team. Hire, mentor, and lead a small, high-leverage team of product designers. Define roles, expectations, and operating model for design at Kindsight.
  • Redefine the Product Development Lifecycle (PDLC): Design and implement an AI-native PDLC where. As needed, PMs are empowered to generate early prototypes and flows and Designers shape, refine, and elevate experience quality. Introduce clear design intervention points (vs. full lifecycle ownership). Establish lightweight but effective design quality gates
  • Scale Design Impact Without Scaling Headcount Linearly: Support a large PM organization with a small, high-leverage design team. Enable PMs to self-serve on early design using AI tools and frameworks. Create reusable patterns, templates, and guidance to extend design reach.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience: 8–10+ years in product design, with 3–5+ years in leadership roles.
  • Experience building or scaling design teams in B2B SaaS environments.
  • Proven track record of influencing product and engineering organizations.
  • Craft & Systems Thinking: Strong skills in UX, interaction design, and information architecture. Experience building and scaling design systems. Ability to balance speed with high-quality user experience.
  • AI-Native Mindset: Hands-on experience using AI tools in the design/product process. Strong perspective on how AI changes UX and product development. Curiosity and adaptability in adopting new tools and workflows.
  • Leadership & Influence: Ability to lead without large teams or traditional structures. Comfortable operating in ambiguity and defining new ways of working. Strong cross-functional partnership with Product and Engineering.
  • Player-Coach Orientation: Willing and excited to do hands-on design work. Ability to context-switch between strategy and execution.
  • Strategic Thinker: You see the big picture and can connect the dots between emerging AI capabilities and customer value.
  • Excellent Communicator: Able to tell compelling stories that bring AI possibilities to life, whether you're talking to a customer, executives, or cross-functional teams.
  • Customer-Centric: Passionate about understanding and serving nonprofit customers, with a deep sense of empathy and mission alignment.
  • AI Ethics Advocate: Aware of the implications of AI and committed to building responsible, inclusive technologies.

Bonus Points

  • Experience in vertical SaaS (nonprofits, healthcare, education, or CRM platforms)
  • Experience designing AI-powered or data-intensive products
  • Background working with or transitioning away from design agencies
