As Engineering Manager, Fintech, you will lead the engineering team responsible for building and scaling Kindsight Payments and our broader Fintech platform. Partnering closely with the Director of Product, Fintech, you will translate product vision into reliable, secure, and scalable systems that power embedded payments across our Connect donor portal and CRM workflows.
This is a critical leadership role at the intersection of financial technology, platform engineering, and social impact. You’ll be accountable for delivering high-quality payment infrastructure that enables nonprofit organizations to process hundreds of millions of dollars annually—with exceptional reliability, compliance, and performance.
You will lead a team of engineers while remaining deeply engaged in architecture, delivery execution, and operational excellence. You’ll collaborate cross-functionally with product, design, compliance, and finance to ensure our Fintech solutions are robust, secure, and built for scale.

What You’ll Do:
- Lead Fintech Engineering Delivery: Own the technical execution of the Fintech roadmap in close partnership with Product. Ensure predictable, high-quality delivery of embedded payments and financial workflows across Connect and CRM systems.
- Build Scalable Payment Systems: Design and evolve resilient, secure, and scalable payment infrastructure, including payment processing integrations, transaction orchestration, reconciliation systems, and reporting pipelines.
- Partner Closely with Product: Work hand-in-hand with the Director of Product, Fintech to shape solutions, evaluate trade-offs, and ensure alignment between business goals and technical execution. Contribute to roadmap planning with engineering insights on feasibility, risk, and sequencing.
- Lead and Grow the Engineering Team: Manage, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of engineers. Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement while attracting and retaining top talent.
- Ensure Reliability & Operational Excellence: Establish best practices for system reliability, observability, and incident response. Drive improvements in uptime, performance, and system resilience for mission-critical payment flows.
- Champion Security & Compliance: Partner with compliance and security teams to build systems that meet PCI DSS, KYC/AML, and other regulatory requirements. Ensure secure handling of sensitive financial data and adherence to industry standards. Experience building tools for Payment Operations including merchant onboarding, dispute resolution and fraud detection.
- Drive Payment Integrations & Expansion: Lead the technical implementation of integrations with payment processors and support multiple payment methods over time (e.g., credit cards, ACH, digital wallets, and emerging payment rails).
- Enable Automation & Platform Efficiency: Collaborate with CRM and platform teams to automate manual gift processing workflows, improving operational efficiency and data integrity for nonprofit customers.
- Establish Engineering Best Practices: Drive excellence in architecture, code quality, testing, CI/CD, and documentation. Promote a pragmatic, scalable approach to system design and technical decision-making. Exposure and experience in adoption AI assisted coding practices to accelerate velocity and improve quality.
- Support Fintech Innovation: Stay current with emerging technologies in payments, embedded finance, and financial infrastructure. Help evaluate and adopt new capabilities that enhance our platform and customer value.
- Support Payment Processor Relationships: Support Product Manager for key payment processors and embedded finance partners. Evaluate potential partners, make strategic recommendations on platform alignment, and collaboratively manage ongoing commercial and technical roadmaps to ensure optimal performance, revenue generation, and feature optimization for our customers.
What We’re Looking For:
- Experienced Engineering Leader: 7+ years of software engineering experience, including 2+ years managing high-performing engineering teams in a SaaS or Fintech environment.
- Strong Fintech & Payments Experience: Hands-on experience building or integrating payment systems, with familiarity across payment processors, APIs, transaction flows, and financial data systems. Experience With Payment Operations Flows. This should include having experience building tools for Payment Operations including merchant onboarding, dispute resolutions and fraud detection
- Systems Thinker: Proven ability to design and scale distributed systems that are reliable, secure, and maintainable under high transaction volumes.
- Execution-Focused: Track record of delivering complex, high-impact systems from concept to production, balancing speed with quality and long-term scalability.
- Collaborative Partner: Strong cross-functional collaborator who works effectively with product, design, and business stakeholders to deliver customer value.
- Security & Compliance Mindset: Familiarity with PCI DSS, data protection, and secure system design. Understands the importance of compliance in financial systems.
- Operational Excellence: Experience building and maintaining highly available systems, including monitoring, alerting, and incident response practices.
- People Leader: Passionate about coaching, mentoring, and developing engineers. Creates an inclusive, high-performing team culture.
